UNIT CULMINATING ASSESSMENT:
“THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO FEEL THAT IT IS USELESS AND FUTILE TO
CONTINUE TALKING ABOUT PEACE AND NON-VIOLENCE AGAINST A
GOVERNMENT WHOSE ONLY REPLY IS SAVAGE ATTACKS ON AN UNARMED
AND DEFENSELESS PEOPLE” NELSON MANDELA

Consider the argument presented in the above
quotation by Nelson Mandela regarding violence and
non violence and respond to the author’s validity based
off of the reading conducted in this unit. Students can
defend (support) the author’s quote, challenge it (argue
against its claim), or qualify it (agree with part and
disagree with part) students should use all reading and
not simply segment their paper into each separate
reading- they should practice (after teaching modeling
and practice) using evidence from one book to support
another piece of evidence in an effort to blend multiple
allusion to text within the same paragraph.
