Academic Policies (available on the website) You must have a minimum GPA of 1.9 to come to SUNY New Paltz. New students must maintain a cGPA of 2.00 for economics and 2.75 for business. Students who fall below these levels will be put on academic probation. The cGPA must be raised to the appropriate level the following semester to avoid dismissal. Choosing classes at New Paltz • You will be able to choose some of elective • • • classes at New Paltz. General elective (GE) classes are actually requirements; business students take ART, WEST, HUM, and USST. Economics students take ART and HUM, along with two writing courses. You can search by Attribute (GE3) in the online course catalog to make selections. Studying at SUNY New Paltz Orientation, Course Registration and the Start of Classes We hold an orientation session for new students at the start of each spring semester. Attendance is mandatory so we can help you get the best start at New Paltz.
