 Accenture has a long history of community involvement, working with NPO’s around the
world to make sustainable difference to the long term economic vitality of individuals and
communities. Accenture’s focus is on building the skills that open doors to employment; a
need that resonates with Accenture as a talent-based company where training and
developing people to reach higher levels of performance is a key competency.
Skills to Succeed
 In 2009, Accenture launched Skills to Succeed – a global initiative focused on building
skills that enable people to participate in the economy
 Accenture’s goal was to equip 250,000 people around the world with the skills to get a job
or build a business . This was achieved in 2012 and the bar was raised.
 Accenture is now committed to equipping 700,000 people globally by 2015 through Skills
to Succeed program.
Background to the MFS2S program
Discussion between Accenture and CFMWS
• In discussion with Commodore Watson, discussion was had regarding where the CAF
could use help from community partners.
• There has been a lot of focus on supporting military and their transition but there was
still a need to tackle the challenges of spousal employment.
• Introduction from MFS to MFRC-NCR
• Discussion with NCR to identify the key gaps, barriers and challenges for CAF families
residing in the NCR.
Ombudsman Report
• The latest report outlines many of the challenges faced by military families, including
career and employment disruptions.
“Another flagged concern was that frequent relocations make it difficult, if not impossible,
for spouses of CAF members to find and sustain reasonable, gainful and continuous
employment. Many spouses experience periods of unemployment or under-employment;
most reported frustration at having to make most, if not all, of the professional

 To develop core skills for military family member that will improve employment
 To explore career choices that can grow and thrive in the military lifestyle and
 To investigate career and business opportunities that can be built up and be
portable enough to move with postings
 To develop and foster a program that will develop networks and support for
military families seeking full careers
 Future plans to develop the program to be offered nationally, in both official
languages as well as in a virtual format.
MFS2S Program Overview
Workshop Program
 Interactive workshop format with one-on-one time with Accenture
volunteers to assess career goals and develop key skills
 Information session aimed at exploring career options that can be
adopted to the lifestyle of continuous postings
Skills to Succeed – As of June 2014
 Beyond the Basics: resume writing
 Successful Interviewing Techniques: “speed interviewing”
 Employment for the Future: virtual assistant and virtual employment
 Be your own Boss: business proposals, home based business
 Virtual Working Environment: using virtual and social media to find
meaningful employment
Recipe for the Military Spouse
1 ½ cups of Patience
1 cup of Courage
¾ cup Tolerance
1 pound of Ability
Dash of Adventure
To the above ingredients: Add 2 tablespoons of elbow grease and let
stand for one year. Marinate frequently with salty tears. Pour off
excess fat and sprinkle ever so lightly with money then knead dough
until payday. Season with international spices. Bake 20 years or until
done. Makes unlimited servings.
