Summary: SHI has transformed itself from a $1 million software-only regional
reseller into a $3 billion+ global provider of information technology products and
services.
Situation: Like most large organizations, Avanade had difficulty accessing pertinent
System Center information. The information from Microsoft System Center Service
Manager, System Center Operations Manager, and System Center Configuration
Manager was out of reach. IT management wanted access to the data for business
and IT decisions. The IT administration team wanted access to their parts of the data
to do research for specific projects and tasks.
Situation: SHI uses Microsoft Service Manager to capture their incident requests
and perform problem management. Their centralized service desk averaged 1,500
calls per month. Resource allocation for the service desk team was limited and they
were forced to invent creative, sometimes clumsy ways to manage and track
performance.
Solution: Avanade implemented IT Analytics for System Center to provide a
comprehensive reporting structure. IT Analytics provided a unified view to all of
their System Center data. The view into their environment provided proactive trend
analysis and advanced reporting. In addition, by implementing IT Analytics, Avanade
substantially reduced their spending on custom report development.
Solution: To provide IT executives with a comprehensive view of service
performance, SHI implemented IT Analytics. IT Analytics gave the service desk team
the ability to mine the “behind the scenes” data, quickly and effectively. This
enabled them to identify process gaps and report meaningful data to executive
management.
Benefit: Avanade provides comprehensive, ad-hoc reports and analytics to their IT
executives while freeing up their technical resources and reducing their custom
report development spending.
Benefit: SHI created Scorecard measurements for customer satisfaction and
individual performance. The measurements are critical for tracking application
infrastructure, service desk, and personnel metrics.
