Hotel de Wereld
• First mentioned in the 17th
• 1852 the building got replaced by
a new one
• At the end of the 18th century a
transversory wing was added
• On the 5th of may in 1945 the
German capitulation wa
negotiated in this building

• Volksspelen are games that were played by the farmers
in Belgium and are still really famous.
• Some games got replaced by others like ‘kegelen’ by
• Other examles:

The Great Church

Historisch Museum De Casteelse Poort
• In 1500 Duke Charles of Guelders built a castle with
garrison buildings. In the basement of the museum one
can see the remains of a castle tower
• In 1672 the castle was destroyed by French troops.
Afterwards the then castle owner Assueer Torck restored
the ruins
• during the napoleonic occupation, the castle served as
barracks for the troops
• In the late 19th century the castle grounds and the villa
were bought by John BowlesHe refurbished the building,
which he now called Villa Vada and parceled out the land
for the construction of 26 large mansions.

Pasta with tomato sauce
• cut the tomato in half and remove the base of the
stem, squeeze out the seeds and pulp into a bowl
• then place them in a pot on a low heat to soften for
about 15 minutes
• Once the tomatoes have become softened, you can run
them through a food mill set over a bowl
• now put the resulting sauce back onto the heat for
another 15 minutes.
• now it's time for a bit of oil, and the basil leaves which
you can add whole or tear into pieces.
• Finally mix, and then take the sauce off the heat. Our
tomato sauce is finally ready to use in your recipes.

Chicken Curry
• Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Saute
onion until lightly browned. Stir in garlic, curry
powder, cinnamon, paprika, bay leaf, ginger, sugar and
salt. Continue stirring for 2 minutes. Add chicken
pieces, tomato paste, yogurt, and coconut milk. Bring
to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 20 to 25
