Students will get a refresher on basic math
subtraction. They will also apply it to
multistep problems and decimal numbers.
They will also learn square roots and
numbers raised to a power.

Subtraction is subtracting numbers to get a
smaller number

Multiplication is multiplying numbers
together to get a bigger number

There are formulas that involve more
multiplication
Ex circumference of a circle: D x 3.14
Pi=3.14 and D=diameter
Ex 2x3.14=6.28
Area of a triangle: BxHx1/2
B=base H=height


Base of a triangle is 5 and the Height is 10.
Find the Area.




Division is dividing numbers
4/2=2
10/2=5
36/4=9





Fractions are non-whole numbers aka less
than 1 but not 0
Ex ½

Decimal numbers are also fraction, but they
can be irrational or greater than 1
Ex 5.5

There are big numbers that can be multiplied
too
Ex
15x3=45
100x30=3000



Numbers raised to a power is how many
times a number is multiplied by itself
Ex 10^2=100 10x10
2^5=32 2x2x2x2x2



Any number raised to the second power
2^2=4 2x2
5^2=25 5x5




Area of a circle: 3.14xR^2
Ex 3.14X2^2


Find the area of a circle with a radius of 5



A number cubed is any number raised to the
third power
Ex 3^3=27
5^3= 125



A number that is multiplied by itself to get a
number
Square root of 49 is 7
Square root of 9 is 3








