The school was founded in 1939 by a man called Sir Ifan ab Owen Edwards,
who was determined to have a Welsh school in Aberystwyth. The school was
the first ever Welsh language school in Wales.
At the moment there are just over 400 pupils in the school,
over 65% of these pupils come from a Welsh speaking
background while the rest come from an English or mixed

On a normal school day, lessons start at 9:30 and finish at 3:30. We have break
time between 10:30-10:45. We have lunch from 12:00-1:00 and a final break at

A two night stay at the Urdd Camp at Glan-llyn near Bala in north
Wales and a two night stay in Cardiff, our capital city. We also go
on day trips to places like: Castell Henllys (an old Celtic fort), the
National Library here in Aberystwyth, and the National Wool
Museum. Everybody loves the school trips!
