“Traffic Constriction: a junction or a narrow
section of a road that slows traffic or causes
traffic jam” Encarta Dictionary
In Power Transmission
A node or connection between nodes that is
a constraint in moving power from one point
to another in an electrical system

Vandalizm
Funding
Vandalization of transmission
lines has caused TCN to lose
evacuation corridors and
delay in the implementation
of several evacuation projects
e.g Abuja – Shiroro 330KV
line was vandalized 14 times
before it was energised in

Implementation of Supergrid... Phase 3
• Phase 3: This involves construction of 765kV DC
Transmission lines from Osogbo – Shiroro (with
a spur line to Birnin Kebbi) – Kaduna ( with a
spur line to Kano). With the following
substations:
• 2.3.1
4 x 333MVA 765/330kV (1000MW)
transformers at Kano with all the necessary
inductive and reactive power compensating
equipment.

Advantages of 765KV Supergrid
CONCLUSIONS
• A single-circuit 765kV line can carry as much
power as three single-circuit 500kV lines, three
double circuit 345kV lines, or six single circuit
345kV lines, reducing the overall number of lines
and rights of way required to deliver equivalent
capacity
• Minimizes Loss of Power during Transmission. Loss
of power during transmission is inversely
proportional to the square of the voltage, hence if
voltage is raised from 345kV to 765kV, loss of
power decrease by 20%.

Elimination of Bottlenecks
•Continuous development of the network to
meet grid plans
•A lot more focus on maintenance of grid
through provision of maintenance materials
e.g breakers, isolators e.t.c
