Walruses still live now but they
are endangered.
Where do walruses live?
• Walruses are found
on the ice floes of
the Canadian
Arctic, Alaska, and
northern Russia.
What happened to the
walrus?
• They are on the
endangered list
• They have bean
overhunted for
tusks, oil, skin, and
meat.
What role did people have?
• Walruses are
endangered
because of
overhunting
• They were killed
for their ivory
tusks and their
blubber which was
made into oil for
lamps
• Today it is against
the law to hunt
walruses
• Only Eskimos are
allowed to hunt
walruses
• Eskimos can only
hunt them with
spears so they
don’t take too
many
