Slide 23
Row Value Constructors and
Multi-Row Inserts
 Row value constructors
 Improved efficiency and performance
Example Multi-Row Insert
INSERT INTO Orders (OrderNo, ItemNo, Qty, UnitPrice)
VALUES (1200, 23478, 10, 30.00),
(1200, 15453, 4, 23.00),
(1200, 14545, 1, 89.00)

Slide 24
DECODE() function
Syntax:
decode( expression , search , result [, search ,
result]... [, default] )
expression is the value to compare.
search is the value that is compared against expression.
result is the value returned, if expression is equal to search.
default is optional. If no matches are found, the decode will return

RAND() and SRAND()
 rand([seed])
– seed is an integer that gives the seed value. If seed is
not specified, it assigns a seed value at random. For
a specified seed value, the result returned is always
the same.
– Returns random float value between 0 and 1
 srand(int)

pseudorandom values
