Downtown In Oz
The Downtown In Oz Festival celebrates the family-oriented classic
of The Wizard of Oz and its amazing cast of characters. 2010 is the
71st anniversary of the movie classic and millions across the country
will enjoy the wonder of Oz again and again. This year, Downtown
Poplar Bluff will host the festival in The Black River Coliseum and will
be home to many events and activities which are sure to be fun for
the whole family.
On October 16, 2010 at 9am, onlookers will enjoy the Downtown In
Oz Parade as it winds its way through Downtown, complete with
parade floats decorated in the Wizard Of Oz theme. At 10am the
festival begins with many activities including the Wicked Witch
cackling contest, costume contests, youth functions, the Emerald
City Pageant, and the popular Oz Idol singing contest. Oz fans will
enjoy cleverly arranged interactions with various booths including
local vendors and businesses, crafts, food and drink concessions, Oz
merchandise, activities, health and safety, and many more.
