CUCEP met three times (and carried out some business via email consultation) to
consider requests for course changes, curriculum changes and educational policy
issues.
Course changes: CUCEP approved changes in MCB 110V (to MCB 110Y), MIC 10, BIS
105, MCB 121, BIS 101; new courses NPB 163, EVE 13; cancellation of EVE 134, EXB
113. Requested changes in EXB 126 were tabled pending consultation with College
Engineering regarding cross-listing issues.
Curriculum changes: Change in name of Genetics major to Genetics and Genomics.
Maintenance changes/updating of Evolution, Ecology and Biodiversity (EEB) B.A, B.S.
and minor.
Educational Policy discussions: Preparation of Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and
Assessment Plans for each major in support of WASC accreditation review. Assessment
of PLO’s and assessment of GE learning outcomes will be part of the cycle of campuswide program review going forward. On the horizon, the Registrar’s office will develop a
mechanism to enforce course prerequisites at enrollment. A call will go out to confirm
whether currently listed prerequisites should be retained as required courses in the new
system or changed to “recommended courses”.

Schreiber (EVE); Jochen Ditterich (NPB); Dave Furlow (BIS major; Fall); Lesilee Rose (BIS major; Winter-Spring); Susan

the core courses and administration of the major
takes advantage of faculty outside the department

Human Biology?
To ensure continuity of instruction of
shared majors
• Standing Shared Major committee (e.g., vice
chairs + instructors)
• Home department still needed
• Assigning of instructors/TA, lab budgets,
classrooms, awards etc.
