By: Brianna Philipsen Science 7 INFORMATION ON LEFT HANDERS 10% of the world’s population is left handed Being left handed is not part of the hand it is part of the brain Left handed people use the right side of their brain Males are 1 ½ times more likely to be left handed then females INFORMATION ON LEFT HANDERS If you are RR or Rr you are right handed If you are rr you have no preference Left handed baseball players are called South Paws DISADVANTAGES Left handed people approximately live 9 years less than right handed people Stuttering and dyslexia occur more in left handed people Left-handedness causes carpel tunnel They are more likely to have allergies than right handed people DISADVANTAGES Left handed people are more likely to be alcoholics than right handed people They get more migraines than right handed people More than likely they won’t be able to roll your tongue They have trouble with scissors and binders ADVANTAGES Left handed people recover from strokes faster than right handed people They also see underwater better Left handed people are proven to be better at tennis, baseball, and fencing FUN FACTS ABOUT LEFT HANDED PEOPLE Left Handed people draw pictures facing the right There is a high chance that one twin will be left handed Identical twins might have different hand preferences Babies who are born to older moms are more likely to be left handed FUN FACTS ABOUT LEFT HANDED PEOPLE Left handed peoples fingernails grow faster on their left hand than their right Moms who were stressed out when they were pregnant are more likely to be left handed Researchers believe that the gene for left handers is LRRTM1 It is believed that there is more left handed males than females ANIMOTO REFERENCES Hirshon, Bob, auth.
